Spices: Mc Cormick's Crushed Red Pepper and Cardamom seeds

Hello everyone!
I have been looking for two very specific spices. I have seen the old Mc Cormick's Red Pepper spice at my parent's place, my friend's family's home and pretty much every family's home I have been to.
It just so happens that Danny is running out of the Mc Cormick's Red Pepper spice and I have embarked on a journey to find a good source to replace it.

I found this in a supermarket, I believe close to Bay station.
Yikes, $5.29 + tax.

I found the Amazon.com website 13-Ounce container of crushed red peppers for $8.42 in American Dollars which will be taxed once it crosses the borders. It's about $0.65 / oz but this is in American dollars and will have to pay for shopping if you are ordering under $35.  Mc Cormick is definitely the taste that I trust.

I had no idea a small jar of Cardamom seeds would be $6.99 + tax. These seeds are great in hot beverages. I was studying at my colleague's place and she made me plain red rose tea seeped in hot milk, sugar and some cardamom seeds. It was a fragrant, fantastic delight!

Chinese Culture+Pork+ Awkward Moments

Hello everyone!

I haven't wrote in my "I'm Hungry" blog where I post up random thoughts about food.

I have been dating a Chinese guy for over a year and have learned how Pork is deeply embedded in the Chinese Culture.

You can easily say that most of the Chinese population are not vegetarian and are meat lover and they worship pork.

When I told Danny's parent's, "I don't eat Pork by choice." His Father and Mother freaked out and they started bursting out with the "Why Not?" ," Why can't you eat Pork?" So I informed them due to religious reasons and the way I was raised, I don't eat pork by choice.

I have eaten pork accidentally a few times and to be polite. I don't want to make a scene at times. You have no idea how much attention it draws when you reject a dish. All eyes on you! Then comes the questions!

I think I may have even offended Danny's parent to some level. They are always trying to encourage me to consume pork. Sometimes, their methods of trying to get me to eat pork can be sneaky.

I know whenever we visit the Very Fair Chinese Restaurant, usually, the appetizer soup is this Pork Bone Soup.

They always pour me a bowl but I gently decline.

I have a cousin who married a Polish guy and she shared stories of how she visited his parents place and they really wished my cousin to taste the mother's home-cooked meals. My cousin felt really awful to push away what was offered to her and she ate it despite of her values, beliefs and religion.

Have you guys were ever placed in the spot light to eat something you didn't want to eat but you didn't want to offend anyone? It could have been due to religious reason like me or you just didn't want to eat whatever that was offered to you?

When your health starts to deteriorate....

To all of the oinkers out there who loves to eat,

Imagine you suddenly received the news that you can't eat the way how you usually do.

If you do, it would catalyse the trajectory of chronic illness(es) developing.

The doctor has given me a wake up call and I need to make serious changes in my lifestyle.

No more large portions meaning no more sushi buffets or buffets in general...

Decrease my intake of processed and take-out foods...

Eat more healthly....

Well, I was blown away like the seniors did in that scene in Gangnam Style Music Video at 1:06.

here is the link if you're unsure and fast forward to 1:06:

I thought I was being careful but this wasn't good enough.
Now I have to take extra precautions and take better care of myself from now on.

I have already taken the first step to acknowledge that this is a problem.

But the next step is researching and planning how I am going to take better care of myself in a realistic perspective.

It would be indeed challenging restraining myself from all of those desserts patient's family members leave on the unit as a thank you gift and I love Pizza. I would do anything for Pizza! :D

A Flexi... What?

Hello Food lovers,

I read an article from a food magazine called Food Service World in the THAI restaurant on St. Clair West.

I found the article on-line on their website.

Here is the first part of the article:

"Chefs are appealing to flexitarians, a new wave of vegetarians who eat meatOn The Big Bang Theory, one of TV’s successful sitcoms, Penny says, “I’m a vegetarian — except for steak. I loooove steak!” It draws a laugh, but Penny is not joking. She belongs to a new category of diners called flexitarians. These consumers intend to be healthy and socially conscious (it takes significantly more of the Earth’s resources to feed a meat eater), so they espouse vegetarian principles. But, like Penny, they love the occasional indulgence of juicy meat."

if you wish to read more, go to: http://www.foodserviceworld.com/home/features/food-file/4108-the-new-vegetarian.html

The rationale behind the concept of this post was at camp, a guy asked me if I was vegetarian.

I simply stated, "I am a vegetarian that cheats and consumes meat once in a while."

The guy, "If you eat meat, then you're not a vegetarian!"

I did not know how to defend myself and what uttered out of my mouth were, "I probably decrease the chances of getting a heart attack by avoiding meat but eat it about once per week to none per week so it can't hurt. I do consume meat products and fish but I have my weakness for shrimp." (I'm eating Nong Shim's Shin Ramen and I added frozen peas and frozen shrimp to make it heartier at the moment.)

But now I know what to say next time someone inquires in regards to my diet.

I would say, "I'm Flexiarian!" :D

My other meaty weaknesses other than Shrimp are:

1.  Yookgaejang (Korean Soup - Stewed beef brisket and vegetables in a hot spicy beef broth served with rice, Yum! )

2. Tang Soo Yook/Kan Poong Ki/Sweet Sour Chicken

3. Hamburgers (Mc Double Burger, O-Filet-Fish, Generally speaking Hero Burgers Beef and Fish burgers, Priest Burger)

4. Samgaetang (Another Korean soup- Stewed Cornish hen stuffed with garlic, cloves, ginseng, dates, green onions and sweet rice.) I haven't had this for over 1 year and a half. This is awesome when you're feeling ill or you're having a hangover. You will feel rejuvenated from all the good stuff.

5. AFC - Ajuker Fried Chicken (Goddammit, just thinking about AFC is making my mouth salivate! I also haven't had this for over a year. Love the chicken but it wasn't what it used to be. They had more flavor in the past. This stuff is expensive! )

6. Coconut Milk Soup with Mushrooms and Chicken

Pick your Poison

Hello everyone!

I was thinking about bringing bagels to work for the staff and an idea hit me.
What should I bring with bagels?
I initially thought, maybe 2 types of fresh cream cheese, butter.... or margarine or should I bring both butter and margarine?
Pick your poison.
They are both saturated animal fats...
Butter is "Natural" and yet has more saturated fats...
Margarine has more chemicals and less saturated fats...

Same goes for milk!

Milk from cows are pumped with hormones, has more saturate fats, can be fortified.
Alternative milk such as nut milk, rice milk are chemically extracted, very processed and has decreased saturated fats.

And Meat Vs. Veggie Meat.. and the list goes on.

So my question is, why do you choose to eat the types of food and why? Do you know how your food is processed and made? How much do you know about what you're eating?

The Food Situation Up here...

Hello everyone,

So once again, I am up North and the food situation sucks!

I had recently went to Walmart and purchased a lot of frozen meals , a package of cherries and pineapples and eggs.

Something about the orange juice and the oatmeal regulates people's BMs (Bowel Movement).

I am trying to exercise regularly. So far, I have done Tracy Anderson's exercise 4 times within the last 5 days.

Work can be stressful at times but it is alright, I have worse shifts.

Once again, I have noticed the locals are overweight. People need to take advantage of living up north. Go canoeing, make a jogging or hiking club. There are no bowling alleys around here but I learned a bowling game from game which was really neat. I need to find out what the name of the game is.

Acquired taste

Hello everyone,

It has been a while since I have scribbled in this section of my blog.
Today, I want to share my thoughts on acquired taste.

According to Wiki,
"An acquired taste often refers to an appreciation for a food or beverage that is unlikely to be enjoyed by a person who has not had substantial exposure to it, usually because of some unfamiliar aspect of the food or beverage, including a strong or strange odor (e.g. stinky tofu, durian, kimchi, haggis, hákarl, black salt, stinking toe, asafoetida, or certain types of cheese), taste (such as root beer, vegemite, bitter teas, salty liquorice or natto), or appearance. "

I would reccomend you to read the Acquired Taste encyclopedia entry. It's actually interesting.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acquired_taste

Foods I did not enjoy as a young child were:
1. Kimchi (I socially learned that this is not lunch friendly food at elementary school)
2. Cheese (I just didn't like it as a child)
3. Liquorice (I would avoid the Black Jelly Bean like the plague)
4. Sushi (I didn't like Sashimi or raw fish. It had a weird texture to it)

Foods I recently started enjoying are:
1. Cheese (Brie, Gouda and Asiago cheese is really good!)
2. White Wine (Red wine tastes exactly what it is Rotten Grape juice however white wine is a bit more fruitier. I have recently purchased a white wine from the St. Lawerance Market on Front St. I had randomly asked  the sale associate which wine she prefers. She pulled out Trius Sauvignon Blanc Vintage 2011. It features gooseberry and tropical notes on your palate which is quite nice! )
3. Olive Oil (I did not think it was tasty until this year)
4.  Parsley (I hated it as a child)

Acquired Taste Foods I have always enjoyed:

1. I actually like Korean Fermented Soy bean soup which is pretty much Natto soup. Once soy beans becomes fermented, they release this pungent odor. My mother had once attempted to ferment soy beans in the appartment and you can sell the rotten beans in the hallways of the appartment floor.

2. I also enjoyed Root Beer as a child because I thought it freshened up my breath, I liked the A&W bear and thought it stood out from the rest of the sodas.

Food for thought...literally: For pleasure, benefits, both or other?

Hi everyone!

It's Easter Sunday and I hope everyone collected a bunch of chocolate eggs. :D

I got into a small conflict and I thought it would be interesting to reflect upon it and share it with you guys.

I know I have wrote a bit about how I was raised but this morning, John made me pancakes and I asked him, how come there was no fruit on the pancakes. John ate his pancakes plain with syrup.

I was telling him I know this isn't a habit in his family and this is going to be a hard reminding yourself to eat some fresh fruit. We are in a health/exercise competition. No one is perfect and there is always room for improvement.

I came from a family where they value their health (I think it's a Korean thing. The culture values health foods like ginseng, royal jelly, roasted chestnuts and sweet potatoes) and it is important that you develop healthy behaviours like exercising and eating healthily. My mother and her siblings are physically active and are vegetarians. They do things like golf, tennis, walking/hiking, badminton and etc. They are healthy. I don't know anyone in my family who had to get surgery or go on medications. Only my mother who has really bad hypertension (blood pressure) which is genetic. And my aunt who recently got cancer. My mother still goes for her regular walks and plays badminton. You don't need a lot of money to be healthy. Climb a flight of stairs or something! :D
(A woman just walked past me. I'm on my laptop on the stairs stealing my boyfriend's uncle's internet signals on the staircase of our new apartment since we don't have our internet hooked up. ) O.O" how awkward!

I look at my boyfriend and their family. Their health is going downhill. No exercise. No fresh healthy foods from a store or the market. A lot of cheap foods in their kitchen.

I realized after living independently, your parents instil their values into you and they become your values. So one of the values that my parents instilled in me is, "Eat it because of benefits and it is good for you."

As a child I hated sushi. My dad always forced me to eat sashimi telling me its good for me. I cried complaining it was fishy, wet and slimy as I ate it. Eventually, I acquired the taste of raw fish.

Another one was beans in rice. Korean people put barley and different types of beans and things in their rice in the pressure cooker. As a kid, I preferred plain white rice with nothing in it. My dad saw me one time pick out all of the beans and neatly making a pile on one corner of my plate. My father got upset and told me, "Eat the beans! They are good for you!" Again I cried and whined complaining, "The beans don't taste good!" But I ate them because I would get into deeper trouble if I continued to resist.

You guys are probably reading this thinking, "This girl's father was cruel and mean!"

But in the end, I realized my parents knew what they were doing. I never had to be hospitalized to be operated for bowel obstruction or malnutrition. I learned some parents seriously give whatever their kid demands and their kid ends up severely constipated to a point they require surgery. I don't take any regular medications. I am in good health and I am happy and grateful that my mother and father fed me healthily, and kept me physically active as I grew up. It would probably been devastating to my parents if I had to be on a blood cholesterol pill or a blood pressure pill on life.

My little argument with my boyfriend reminded me of my parents, "Yes, it is good to eat foods for their benefits because your body will thank you in the long-run."

I know I just posted up 2 blogs: one was for socializing and the other was a treat/gift from John. I think it is about balance. You can go out to eat fast foods but you need to establish a rule or monitor yourself , whatever works for you to be more conscious of how much junk or unhealthy foods that are consumed.

I made a good habit of eating home cooked meals which is privately blogged on my other website. I started to develop a good habit of exercising. If I don't have time, I would sneak in some crunches and push ups and planks before I go to bed. This exercise/health competition is getting more intense as the last day is creeping by. I really want my beach body back! :D

So I really wanted to ask you.

What types of food do you eat and why? It is for pleasure, health or a bit of both?
It is for the convenience? The taste? It's cultural?

Why do you take photos of food and blog about it?

Hello everyone!

It has been a while since I wrote in this section of my blog page.
Recently, my boyfriend sort of reminded me why I take photos of food and blog about it.

About 3 years ago or so, John asked me why I like to take photos of food all the time.
I told him, I want to remember what I ate. John laughed. Then I elaborated, that I want to remember all the good stuff I ate and maybe one day I would be able to cook some of these wonderful dishes.

I blog because I think knowledge and information about food should be shared. If you know a good bar or restaurant, why keep it a secret? If it's really that great, share it with the world! :D

There are people who are into pets, art and sports.

I'm into Food Porn!

According to Wiki, "Food porn is a glamourised spectacular visual presentation of cooking or eating in advertisements, infomercials, cooking shows or other visual media,[1] foods boasting a high fat and calorie content,[2]exotic dishes that arouse a desire to eat or the glorification of food as a substitute for sex.[3] Food porn often takes the form of food photography and styling that presents food provocatively, in a similar way to glamour photography or pornographic photography."

I grew up in an era where being exposed to mass media and being constantly being bombarded by advertisements and commercials probably also influenced me to like food so much. But I hate it also. I am a visual person so if there is a photo that makes me salivate like Pavlov's dogs, I can be easily be influenced to eat Take-Out/Fast-Foods/Commercially prepared foods. But I'm trying to be more aware of what I consume and eat more healthily.

I'm currently in a health/weight loss competition so I'm not blogging often in regards to restaurants which saddens me a bit but I know this is for my own good in the long-term run.

Goal: Eat Healthly and watching my $60-$80 weekly budget

Hello everyone!

I'm reflecting back at my diet and I know I have not been eating too well lately. I also know that I have not been exercising as much as I'd like.

It's about time I make a positive change for myself and try to live life healthier.

Today, I was grocery shopping and I saw that there were Pomegranates! I grabbed two right away! The price of the Pomegranates were expensive! OMG!

Check out the prices:

Commericial Bread $5.19

SOS Pads $3.25

A Lemon $1.59

A Grapefruit $1.89

A Pomegranate $2.19

A Package of Baby Spinach $5. 29 (I swear to God, I purchase about 2-4 spinach a week)

Green Onions $1.29 (I swear to God these are $0.75 in Toronto's Galleria Market)

A Eggplant $5.56 (WTH?!?)

Danone Activia Yoghurt $7.45

This is actually my first time looking at the receipt. I had been advised by many local people and staff member NOT to look at the receipt when shopping for food because we all need to eat healthily. The cheap stuff are the boxed pasta, box cake, bacon, frozen hamburgers and pretty much other instant foods.

I often cannot help myself but look at what others are purchasing when standing in line waiting to get checked out. I see most of the local people are big on purchasing cheese, frozen burgers, bacon, coffee, frozen fries, ice cream, Canned Soup or Soup in a package, gravy, chips & dip, pop and I'm thinking, "The food situation up here needs to be improved!" I feel sometimes the local people look back on what I purchase and I still feel horrible they are unable to access healthy foods.

I recall the very first time I went grocery shopping here. There was a couple and they were debating on what to do because they did not have enough money for the cab to return home. I looked at what they were purchasing... chips.... pop... and other foods that aren't too healthy. The cab costs a flat rate of $5 here. Who knows, maybe the chips & pop was for a party or some other social function or maybe this was their staple diet, I didn't ask them.

I swear to God, someone needs to create a documentary on food accessibility here to increase awareness of the problems that the First Nations people face. Recently, there has been some coverage in Attawapiskat in regards to their medical and housing crisis. A child went to the closest nursing station but was sent home many times with Tylenol. Unfortunately, the kid ended up dying. CBC also revealed the housing situation it showed how one family's home was flooded was raw sewage. It was horrifying!

I just spent $140 in the grocery Store

Hello everyone,

I just spend about $140 in the grocery store. My grocery bills are killing me! But I am kinda forced to cook. I am living dependantly. There is only 2-4 restaurants where I live. People who own business here open there restaurant however they like so some are only open during certain seasons.

So now my thoughts are headed towards my pricey rent. I pay about $512/month and its just me. I ask myself, is it really a necessary to reside in a 2 bedroom place for the X amount of years that I stay here for my nursing practice?

If I were to reduce the price of rent in half, $250-$300 per month, then 2 out of 3 weeks of grocery bills would be covered easily.

Such decisions....

I plan to experiment in my kitchen more often. I would require money to do that too....

Such grown up stuff... budgeting and all...

Will cook and blog more often

Hello everyone,

I just did 8 shifts in a row and I am burnt out!
I do plan to cook and blog more often.

It was pretty depressing what I was consuming during the past 3 months.

Of course, it was very challenging moving and not having kitchen utensils....

I used a spare part of a shelf rack of a refrigerator as my dish rack. One of the seasonal workers helped me do groceries and she came into the trailer to drop off the food with me. She stared at my empty, pathetic kitchen and was like, "You need to buy more stuff for your trailer." It took about a month and a half for my kitchen to be more equipped.

This is what my diet looked like during the first month here:

Breakfast: Lemon juice squeezed myself with Agave Syrup (I heard Lemon tricks the brain that gives you the sense that you are full. This only works for about 15 mins then you will be hungry again if only ingested juice on an empty stomach.)
Toast with Margarine or Oatmeal or boiled eggs

Lunch: Campbell's vegetable Soup with toast

Dinner : Pizza (A slice of bread baked with pasta sauce and cheese)
or
Toast with Pasta Sauce
or
Boiled Vegetables (Asparagus, potatoes carrots and onions) with Lemon Juice and Black pepper, salt and Agave.

This is what my diet looked like during the Second month here:

Breakfast: Cereal with soy milk with fruit if available
or
Fruit smoothie (Avocado , blueberry, strawberry, banana smoothie) or boiled eggs

Lunch: Smoothie, Uncle Ben's Tomato Rice with tomato, or Campbell Soup or Tuna Sandwich, Veggie Meat

Dinner: Frozen perogies with Canned Soup or Oatmeal or Fruit with Cereal, Chips

During my Third month, my diet had graduated to:

Breakfast: Orange Juice, Cereal, Oatmeal, Leftovers from Dinner, Pancakes, Boiled eggs

Lunch: Korean Glass noodles, ramen, Soup, Frozen perogies ,pasta, veggie meat or a hamburger (I need my protein ppl and sometimes veggie meal is unavailable)

Dinner: Soup, Frozen Fries, Sliced Tomatoes, Pizza Pockets, Oatmeal, Nachos, pasta

I know its not the most healthiest diet but I'm working on it despite of the fact that a green pepper here is $5 -6 + tax. I try to add real veggies into my soup like onions, carrots and tomatos so I am getting some nutrients. Those canned soups pretty much have nothing in them but sodium and fat.

Sometimes, when I am working a day shift, I purchase lunch from the cafe. Personally, I am not too pleased with the food there. I only like their Egg Sandwich because they are generous with the egg salad. :D

I just had their Mac and Cheese and it looked so gross and it tasted pretty bland. I mean, clearly there was a large amount of cheese in the dish but it didn't even taste cheesy. But I ate it because I completed a 30 hour shift. I swear the God, the cashier was like O.O and she watched me inhale this large dish of Mac and Cheese, 2 bowls of Chicken soup and a slice of cherry pie in 20 mins. Before, I exited the deserted Cafe, I went up to her and said, "I know I eat like a man.". The Cashier laughed and said, "I can see that."

Food Sick

September 8, 2011.

9:12PM

I am food sick.

Not food poisoned just plain old food sick when you are suddenly reside in a place where you cannot consume the type of foods you usually had for 25 years. Up here the food sucks. Seriously, what are the locals thinking? The quality of the food is low and crappy. 80% of the foods in the supermarket are perishable foods and 20% of the supermarket are fresh produce.

What the hell?

Where is the food pride of this community?

There are no Cooking competitions... just bake sales. I had a cupcake from a bake sale last week and purchased a cupcake for $1. The baker went el cheapo on the buttercream frosting and the bottom of the cupcake weas burnt. My tongue guessed this cake really was cake box.

Seriously, I should start a food riot or make ppl sign food petitions for improve the quality of the foods that is sold here.

I miss the foods from Toronto. I loved it how you can step out and choose eat or taste different type of foods, different ethnic foods, attend food festivals and events.

Here there isn't much. I see people do some pot lucks but I guess what I'm really craving is for Vietanmese Pho, Thai Tom Kha Gai, Korean Bibimap, Jamacian Jerk Chicken, Greek Chicken souvlaki with rice, salad and potatoes,Chinese Congee and Dim Sum, Philippino Sinigang with Casavacake, Indian Curry, Japanese Sushi, Kosher Hummus, and I think I need to stop right there or else I will continue to salivate.

On the bright side, I have some time to practice my so called culinary skills. It will be fun. :D

There is so many things I want to make.....

1. Pineapple sorbet inside a pineapple
2. Rice Cakes out of scratch
3. Pho
4. Cheesecake
5. Cupcakes (hopefully excel to create red velvet cupcakes)
6. Rapunzel's Squash & Hazelnut Soup (Yes, that Disney movie made Michie Hungry!)
7. Fried Bread (Hopefully excel to make fried bread pizza)
8. Experiment and create different lemonades
9. Learn how to make Pizza dough out of scratch from a friend.

How important is Food and Health to you?

Hello everyone!

Sorry I have not blogged for the longest time.

After recovering from consuming take-out foods I got sick from, I decided to blog about food.

Being raised from a Korean family, my mother had instilled some traditional Korean values to me. I'm not too into traditional ideas but I learned to value that food and your health should be your #1 priority. Without health, you cannot do anything.

My mother never consumes fast foods/take-outs because she considered it "Unclean food". You don't know how the food is handled before serving it to you. You don't know how well hand-washing was performed or if they have done it at all. You will know after you get sick from the food. After working a few minimum wage jobs in food services when I was in high school, I was disgusted and horrified how some people deal with food served to the public.

My mother also believed that it was unhealthy to consume foods outside of home. I was sort of sad during my childhood that she would not purchase chips, pop, and pizza like other parents do. I appreciate it much later on that my mother cooked healthy meals. She was always concerned about my health and well-being.

My mother has been cooking for the family on a daily basis. Every morning, she wakes up 6AM in the morning to cook. I have recently learned to greatly appreciate this as years go by. She has Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from working hard in a factory and I am very impressed to see that she cooks everyday. I have learned some mothers who occupy the domestic space, have no job/career, have two hands that function well enough to cook and yet they do not cook for their spouse and children.

I have developed the greatest respect for my mother and learned to value food and health as she did. I know its also related to the Korean Culture. My boyfriend was over at my place yesterday and we watched a Korean food show and he was teasing how the Koreans audience let out this Amusement sound every 10-30 seconds of the show every time a dish was presented or showing off the ingredients or when the Celebrities took their first bite of the dish. Koreans can go crazy over food. Although, I haven't been to Korea, I am aware Koreans do all sorts of activities to elongate their lives like go to a Sauna, exercise outdoors/gym, go to an outdoor gym open to public and they go wild on natural health products.

How important is Food and Health to you?

Anime Related to Food

I'm currently watching Cooking Master Boy (52 episodes in total) and Yakitate Japan (69 Episodes in total).

Cooking Master Boy is this ancient old anime which portrays a story of a young teenager Chinese boy who travels around China learning about culinary arts and food. All sorts of things happen to this during this journey to be a top chef. Watching some of Cooking Master Boy had given me some new ideas about cooking and it makes me so hungry watching it sometimes. The people's reaction when they taste the boy's food is so exaggerated.

But Yakitate Japan is even worse. People's reaction to the main character's food/bread is like 25 times more exaggerated. I mean like people seems like their getting .. lack of words to describe these scenes... but appears to be high.. floating in outer space.. and being plain objective K.O, fainting, and there was one scene where the judge of the bread contest was stripping his clothes off. Lol, such randomness. Yakitate Japan also makes me very hungry when I watch it. My boyfriend teases not to get to caught up because he think I'm going to create another flop dish where I am inspired by some random fictional dish.

Food Porn- What's yours?

I was watching a Special Episode of No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain last night. I love watching this show! :D Anyways, He did one on Food porn where he reveiled his food porn is Pho. I learned that "Pho" is pronounced as "Fa". I was astonished! Anthony thinks the sexiest, addictive and tasiest food is.... Pho? LOL!

Watch Anthony's Food Porn at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsSiA-JHm0U
After I watched that part twice, I think the food porn had gotten to me. I started craving for Pho.

I think my food porn is Cold Korean Noodles (Naengmyeon) and Bung-O-Pang (Taiyaki or Fish cake with Red Bean Paste).

What is your food porn?

Movie - Food Inc

This is a documentary about food, specifically, the fast foods and the meat industry. The movie unveils interesting stuff about food and how it is controlled on a political players and the corporates. I was amazed that corn today can be used for almost anything! It is used for batteries, diapers and other things. What saddened me the most was how powerless the farmers' roles are today. I'm talking about the farmers who partnered up with the corporates. The corporates delegates what do to and if the farmers do not obey or resist, the farmers can be sued their hearts out.

I recommended anyone who loves food, has an interest of nutrition and open-minded folks to watch this movie.

I'm hungry...

I'm a small girl but I can eat a ton.
I love to eat!
I can't imagine my life if I was hit by a truck the next day and I ended up in the hospital with feeding tubes in me. I would rather die.
I'm a vegetarian who cheats meaning yes, I do eat meat occasionally. For sure I am not able to eat it everyday.
What initially made be start this blog was when I was looking for a specific Dim Sum Restaurant in Downtown Toronto. I was not able to find their online menu. So I decided, "Hey, why not start a blog about food, restaurants, recipes and other things related to food?"

I love taking photos of food and sharing my experience and recommendation of restaurants. So why not start now?
